Bybit futures are derivative contracts that let traders take long or short positions without buying the underlying asset directly. This page focuses on Bybit perpetual futures, which do not have a fixed expiry date and use funding payments to keep contract prices close to the underlying market.
The Bybit funding rate is a periodic payment exchanged between long and short perpetual-futures traders. Positive funding generally means longs pay shorts, while negative funding means shorts pay longs. The funding data above lets you compare current rates across the Bybit markets we track.
Bybit open interest measures the value of futures positions that are currently open. Unlike trading volume, which counts trading activity over a period, open interest shows how much active positioning remains in the market. Bybit liquidations occur when leveraged positions are forcibly closed after their margin falls below the required level. Liquidation data can help show where leveraged traders are being forced out of long or short positions during large market moves.
